Our Story
Heaven on a Spoon is a family-owned shop in Mesa, Arizona, serving authentic Italian gelato made with care, real ingredients, and respect for Italian technique.
Where it began
In 2003, Gerard Lombardo traveled to Italy and studied with local gelato makers across Sicily, learning traditional methods and the art of balanced gelato. What began as a passion became a profession — and by 2005 he was producing authentic Italian gelato of his own.
Today, Gerard and Ericka Lombardo carry that tradition forward at Heaven on a Spoon, a family business rooted in Mesa, Arizona. Every scoop is made with care, real ingredients, and respect for the technique Gerard learned in Sicily.
The craft
Gelato is a different product — and the difference is the whole point.
“Gelato uses more milk and less cream than ice cream, with a slower churn that creates a denser, more flavorful product.”
Locally sourced, alongside authentic products imported from Italy.
Every batch is made fresh in our Mesa shop — no store-bought bases.
No artificial flavors — just traditional Italian technique.
